Week 4 results

Its that time of the week when Toad fans are tuning into the Blog site and checking out whether their Monday evening attempts to creep up the leader board have been worth while.
One game fell foul of the St Jude Storm that hit the power supply to South Chailey and caused the Horns Lodge to be plunged into darkness.
Meanwhile... there's been a call out to see if the Rammit Inn and Long Man Toadies have left the country? Dave the fixture and results guru has not received any news of their result.
Any clues, please get in contact...
And the 'Eights' Leader board is gradually gaining some new names week by week.

Its Bonfire time in Lewes, so unless there's any catch up games to be played next Monday 4th November, the 5th week of games will be played by Div 1 and Div 2 on the 11th Nov, whilst the teams in Div 3 will be playing their first round of the Knock Out Match on the same night.

Div 3 captains... please keep each other informed about arrangements and confirm with the host venue landlord/bar staff about your matches and agree whether food can be provided.

New Tables Discovered

The Toad Table scouts were out last night touring the county looking out for some new tables that could be featured in the new year as neutral venues in Div 1 and 2.
Negotiations are underway now to establish the venues and how each team will be playing on a different table each game.

Any ideas where these tables are?

Week 3 results and tables...

What an interesting week of matches....
lady luck looking down on some, whilst the ability to throw accurate toads to finish games off were alluding several matches.
Div 3 seemed to have all 6 - 1 results, whilst a few re-arranged matches meant that the tables might not be reflecting the true state of play.... Teams changing positions in the league, although only the Brewers Arms (Div 2) and Stand Up Comics (Div 3) remain unbeaten after the first 3 games.

Week 2... some results, tables and eights leaderboard

Its time to have those results of week 2 published.
There's a few re-aaranged matches being sorted and pleased to say that Dave at Toad HQ is being kept informed.

There's a few changes of positions in the league and there's a few 8's already going down.
Lets hope some can be scored at the Stand up Inn where no eights were scored last season.

Eastbourne Beer Fest - Toads contest

The 2013 Eastbourne Beer Festival was in full swing as Toad Tables were being hauled into position by 'hernia insured' team members, whilst the growing audience were exchanging beer for tokens. It was an Annual event which attracted a select mixture of Toad League teams alongside teams that were formed for the purpose of this annual event.

The event took on a different format this year compared with the usual 'find a team to beat' style of mayhem of recent years. It was decided that all teams would play each other and a league table would find the winner for the night.
ASBO, A Bunch of DCCs, Rodmell, Brass Monkeys, Long Man Toadholers, Trevor Arms played 'best of 3' legs over the following couple of hours and resulted in only the Rodmell and Trevor Arms losing one match. However this is where it became complicated as whilst Trevor Arms had won all their games in 2 straight legs with only 2 legs scored against them, they had lost to Rodmell in 2 straight legs. Meanwhile the Rodmell had lost to ASBO and had the same amount (if not more?) legs scored against them.

The Wizard Organisor (we all know who this was) cast a mathematical conundrum-like spell and concluded the winning cup went to the Rodmell despite there being a willingness by both teams to have a final play-off to decide the overall winner.
Word on the street is that Trevor Arms may be lodging a sobering appeal, in the cold light of day, to seek clarification as to how this result was come to.

More beer was supped as the Rodmell raised the cup aloft at the end of the evening.

First match report of the season!

Whatever the Horns Lodge team had been taking over the summer months nearly saw the Trevor Arms get swept aside as the bell in the drawer of their Toad table kept ringing for most the night.

None more so than for their most accomplished player of the night, Jon, as he scored 2 consecutive 8s... in fact in the winning game he put the toad down the hole 14 times.... he certainly found the 'sweet' spot on the lead and was no match for his opponent Sayeed who was left in the fault-line that was left behind.
Jon celebrates his 17 toad game (14 toads down the hole)

A major re-think on strategy, Trevor Arms were biting at the heels of the home advantage of Horns Lodge and playing catch up from the first game. It went down to the very final throw of the third leg of the team game as having brought the scores level after the 2 doubles games, there was very little between the 2 teams...
With pizza greased hands, the Horns Lodge took to the oche and failed to get their final 6 points... Chris stepped up to seal the victory. A well challenged opener for the season and some good spirited games throughout the evening.

Now.... if there's any other match reports.....  send them in to lewestoadinthehole@gmail.com
