TOADS for sale

Just in case there are venues who want to get a spare set of toads for their table, Declan at the Elephant & Castle has several sets for sale....

Call for NEW TEAMS for next season

Those attending the World Championships may have noticed the flyers that were around on the tables, requesting any new teams that might be considering joining the Lewes & District Toad in the Hole League next season.
Toad HQ want to coordinate some summer toad matches in venues where there are tables but no team playing but considering making a team. We might even be able to get to places where there are no toad table, but provide an 'exhibition' match to demonstrate what the attraction is all about.

On the final stretch

Its starting to feel like a long season and last October seems like a long time ago when we started on what was to become a season of much high scores, surprising outcomes and some new players and venues which was to start raising everybody's game.

And with a fair number of catch up games yet to be played it could be a busy May with 2 Bank Holiday Mondays before we all gather at the Abergavenny Arms in Rodmell for finals night.
No doubt there'll be a request for who's coming to that event from John W shortly... there will be catering provided.

And the Eights contest continues to be very tight with Tim (DCC) leading Div 1 with 8 x eights and Jake (T Abergavenny) Paul (HMI) and Wayne (T Abergavenny) all with 5 x eights in Div 2.

Don't forget to put your team vote for best away catering venue when you send in your final match result.

And those who were at Lewes Town Hall to witness the Toad's World Championships last Wednesday (organised by the Lewes Lions) would have seen some astounding toad throwing from The Azurians who just nipped victory from The Croakers.

This Week's TOAD TALK

A few early results first...
HMI 5 Lindfield Lobbers 2
Trevor Arms 4  Snowdrop 3
Volunteer 7 Smugglers 0
DCC 5  Rammit 2

There might be a delay in the tables and full results being issued as Dave and Sally are away this week, so please be patient until they switch their computer on again.

There's still much to get sorted with the Semi Final venue, but hopefully it should all be confirmed in the next day or so from John W.

And its time to start recruiting new teams for next season... those competing at next Wednesdays World Championships should encourage newcomers to get organised for next season.

A new venue for semi final of knock out

John W has issued this latest info
Since my last e-mail selecting the date for the Semi’s another difficulty has arisen.... the Elephant & Castle venue is now hosting a rematch on Mon 15th April so this has affected the Chalk Pit v Long Man S/F match.

So a different neutral venue needs to be arranged. In order to try & give all venues an option of participating in the K/O competition, I am selecting HMI as the neutral venue as they have not yet hosted a cup match this season, according to my records.

Please could HMI team let me know if they have any issues with their table being used on Mon 15th April as soon as possible.

Knock-out Cup - Latest Information (rather alot actually)

We've received instructions from John Wardle (Chairperson) (with portfolio)... here at Toad HQ
Please read and inwardly digest and take note of his new email address.

There are two Mondays available for replays, namely Mon 15th April & Mon 13th May (possibly 3 if you count Mon 27th May but this is a Bank Holiday & not really available).

So the 2 matches are the Chalk Pit v Long Man at Elephant & Castle & Lindfield Lobbers v Rammit Inn at the Laughing Fish. I am aware Chalk Pit are playing a league catch up match v Laughing Toads on 13th May & although Andy at Laughing Fish was willing to host 2 matches on the same night it would be even harder for Chalk Pit to be playing 2 matches on the same night.

So I am suggesting Mon 15th April as the date for the Semi Finals Matches, though I am also aware that Lindfield Lobbers & Rammit Inn might possibly be arranging to play on another date. I do not have a problem with teams re-arranging any matches to different days or dates but it is the various teams’ responsibility to check & confirm that the venues are able to host the rearranged matches.

I have also been asked to select the 5 Toad tables I would like to have at Finals Night at the Abergavenny Arms on Mon 3rd June but in the interests of maintaining a neutral stance & trying not to show any preferences, I have therefore decided to let the first 5 teams who contact me bring tables for the night.
