everyone had filed into the Con Club after walking miles after parking their cars. They were exchanging anecdotes of Toad matches played so far, the various throwing techniques that had been adopted over the season so far...
but it had to happen... we expected a surprise appearance of Father 'Toad-Christmas' to walk through the door... but no.
In walks Pete the Taxi and in true classic pose, takes his jug handled pint of bitter and refused to hand out the raffle prizes. Bahh Humbug.
Apart from Pete's attendance, we had a guest appearance from Simon Goodman who was still able to maintain concentration despite having a flash camera focused on him.
Otherwise, the gathering comprised of the usual toad banter and team games jockying for opponents and tables. A variety of well honed tables were on offer. And no toads were lost during the evenings games.
It was 9pm and the covers were taken off an extensive banquet which was provided by Paul Hill and the HMI catering Corp.
And just when you thought it couldn't get any better....
We gathered around to listen to Dave Rannie announce the raffle numbers, the highlight of which was watching Ben Ward claim his 'cheesy balls' award from the winner's enclosure.
The evening's team matches resulted in a final then being played between ASBO's and Elephant & Castle, the result of which was seeing the Elephant & Castle crowned Panto-Toad Champs for 2012.
